Child Focus
is a non-profit agency that provides resources and services which enrich the
lives of children living in foster care and creates opportunities for
each child to develop the individual strengths and abilities that will help
prepare them for responsible adulthood.
Everlyse Everlasting Education Fund (EEEF)
Everlyse Cabrera disappeared from a
North Las Vegas foster home in 2006 and has never
been found. While the search for her continues,
Child Focus is
working to turn a tragic situation into one of hope for hundreds of youth in
care.
The biological parents of Everlyse selected
Child Focus to administer
the Everlyse Everlasting Education Fund (EEEF) created with a $35,000 court
settlement. The funds are earmarked for
Child Focus' Academic
Success program to provide in-home tutoring and mentoring for foster youth
in Clark County.

Just over 50% of foster youth graduate from Clark County high schools,
which is 15 percentage points below the graduation rate for Clark County
high school students generally. Foster kids fall behind in school as they
are bounced from one residential placement to another; one school to
another. Too often, they give up and drop out.
Child Focus'
goal is to raise an additional $100,000 this year from
corporations and individuals to make the EEEF "everlasting" and provide
year-round professional tutoring to improve high school graduation rates of
youth in care.

"This education fund puts a hopeful spin on a
tagic situation, " stated Cristine Lindholm, President of the Board of
Directors for Child Focus.
"While we remain saddened that Everlyse has not been found, this gift will
ensure that foster children struggling with education will receive the help
they need in her memory."
